Classiness in the twenty-first century certainly isn’t the same as it was a few hundred – or even a few decades – ago.
But, there are some signs of class that will always be around. These include common-known things like saying “please” and “thank you” or holding the door open for others.
Classy women understand much more than the basics. These are women who know who they are and how to present themselves in any situation.
If you wish to be such a woman, here are seven things to work on.
1. Have Good Posture
How you carry yourself says more than you might think.
Always walk into a room with your head held high and your shoulders back. Careful to be pushing out your chest and send the wrong idea, though.
Try not to be too tense, either, as this can say you are uptight or anxious.
Instead, keep a straight back and hold eye contact when you speak.
2. Speak Your Mind
On the subject of conversation, don’t be afraid to say what you think.
Classy women are ladies who have a deep understanding of the world around them and the role they play in it. They are well-read and – if means allow – well-traveled.
They can hold a conversation about current events and share their opinion, respectfully.
3. Use Clean Language
Part of speaking with respect is to avoid vulgar words.
You shouldn’t be using extreme language in places like a work meeting or at a dinner party. But, there is a time and place when certain words are appropriate.
If you let a bad word slip every once in a while it won’t completely discredit your classiness. Actually, strong language can sometimes reinforce the fact that you aren’t afraid to speak your mind.
Just don’t rely on it to make your point.
4. Understand Modesty
Similar to how proper language will vary based on setting and company, outfit choices will as well.
Never wear a little black dress meant for the club to anything but the club. Don’t wear it to dinner and especially not to a work function.
This should be an obvious rule, but some situations aren’t as easy to dress for.
The rule of thumb for all ladies is to hide the goods. As in, cover up your cleavage and make sure your backside isn’t on display.
You don’t have to throw away your favorite pair of jeans that hug all the right places. You just have to start considering if you really want to wear those to church or a child’s birthday party.
Remember, you can dress well and look amazing without showing too much skin.
5. Take Care of Yourself
There are some special occasions for which you’ll want to look a little sexier.
Be prepared for when the moment comes and make self-care a part of your daily routine.
You don’t have to spend hours in the gym, and please, don’t think sexy means skinny. Beautiful, classy women come in all shapes and sizes.
These ladies just make an effort to put their best selves forward. They find the exercise they enjoy and the healthy foods they love to make. They stimulate their mind and know when to slow things down, too.

6. Know Table Manners
No matter how classy you are, your age, or your lifestyle, everyone loves food.
But, not everyone knows how to eat properly.
If you find yourself as confused as Jack was in Titanic, remember – start with the outer silverware and go in.
There are other things to consider at the table like knowing which water glass is yours and how to pass the salad. Even how you use your napkin and cut your steak makes a difference.
7. Respect Others
Some table manners take time to learn.
You can’t necessarily transform your wardrobe in one day.
One thing you can change right now, though, is how you treat others. Classy women know the meaning of respect.
They respect themselves and others everywhere they go. They hold themselves high and lift others up. More so, they don’t lose their temper when the same respect isn’t returned.
Classy Women and Their Homes
There’s one more way you can practice being classy: being tidy.
A well-kept home is a sign of a woman who is put together. She knows how to best create an environment in which to feel comfortable, supported, and simply herself.
If your home is looking more like clutter-town than a clean, cozy space, don’t worry. Here are easy ways to keep a tidy home.
