Cosmetic procedures are hands down more popular today than they ever have been. In fact, the ASPS reports a whopping 200% increase in the demand for things like fillers and Botox!
With more and more people jumping on the bandwagon, we’ve highlighted a few of different types of cosmetic surgery for you to consider.
Let’s dive in!
1. Breast Augmentation
Last year over 300,378 women opted for breast augmentation surgery. This is more commonly known as a ‘boob job’- so don’t let this fancy terminology confuse you!
The surgeons enhance the breasts by inserting implants or injecting fat transplants taken from a different part of the body.
Commonly, women have this procedure done as a result of their self-consciousness concerning deflated breasts following childbirth. However, we’re here to say you’re beautiful just as you are. Never let anyone tell you otherwise!
2. Liposuction
This procedure sucks away fatty deposits from a specific area of the body.
Typically, the patient needs to go under general anesthesia or in some cases, local anesthesia before the surgeon can set to work.
3. Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (more commonly known as a ‘nose job,’) is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. As many as 218,924 nose jobs were performed back in 2017!
Top Tip: like any cosmetic surgery focusing on the face, the surgeon needs to boast expert skills.
In light of that, it’s usually best to find a doctor specializing in facial surgery and has both board certifications and testimonials to commend their skills.
4. Tummy Tucks
The formal term for a tummy tuck is an ‘abdominoplasty.’ This is where the cosmetic surgeon removes all of your excess abdominal fat and skin.
It also often requires the surgeon to tighten your abdominal muscles to complement the new contours of your body.
5. Botulinum Toxin Type A
This is just a fancy term for Botox.
This procedure is incredibly useful for eradicating wrinkles. Year on year, people love using and reaping the benefits of Botox.
ASPS reports that 2% more people opted for Botox-themed procedures back in 2017.
6. Microdermabrasion
If you’re familiar with chemical peels, picture this to get a better idea of what microdermabrasion entails.
Microdermabrasion aims to remove the skin’s outer layer; it provides a more aggressive exfoliation to the face in comparison to your typical facial scrub.
It’s terrific if you’re after a more youthful glow. It’ll reduce the appearance of wrinkles, minimize the size of your pores, and boost the production of collagen.
Microdermabrasion is even used to help treat facial scarring- how neat is that?
