Michael Kors is every girls dream. Not only are his designs super chic and ultimately stylish he pays attention to practicality. So whether it’s a day in the office or a high society event Michael caters for all and is one of the most sought after designers worldwide.
His collection arose when he dropped out of the New York Fashion Institution of Technology and was soon asked to show his collections by buyers for Bergdorf Goodman. Soon after his womenswear line was in every major department store the city has. In 2002, he developed into menswear and two years later launched MICHAEL Michael Kors and KORS Michael Kors focusing on footwear, denim and accessories (yes those gorgeous handbags and watches!). Michael Kors is both the designer and brand. Named as one of the most influential people in the world in 2013 and a CFDA Award recipient it is no surprise that he was declared a billionaire as of 2014 and his designs are still admired around the globe.
Popular clients of Michael Kors include Michelle Obama, Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Olivia Munn- to name a few!
Throwback to AW13 and his catwalk was dominated with the brightest and most vibrant colours introducing yellows and oranges to a catwalk proving his willingness to take a risk and experiment. For SS14 Michael Kors vision was clearer than ever embracing S/S trends to their finest.
SS14 Catwalk trends
One of the most important elements I look for in any ensemble is an exquisite cut and moreover tailoring; Michael has delivered this in his divine collection. I love the use of minimal colour and understated accessorizing creating a look that is perfect and practical for the office.
Despite being summer, length is everything and this collection includes pieces that are easy to style and look effortless in their outcome.
Perfect with: A floppy, oversized hat
I know what you’re thinking darlings, paisley? Too flashback. We are so wrong, this is a trend that has never been more chic and can be found anywhere and everywhere. Michael Kors reignited this trend and used Karlie Kloss, one of the most profile models of the moment, to present this stunning ensemble. By presenting this trend in different forms such as a matching two piece and in contrast a bikini, Michael provides women with multiple opportunities and encourages them to embrace one of the hottest trends around.
Perfect with: Gold jewellery
Perfect pins and structured jackets
This is by far my favourite trend from the whole collection and is the one that I am most likely to experiment with. I love structure in any outfit and believe it can be one of the most powerful elements of any ensemble. Summer is the prime time to flaunt our pins and wear the most gorgeous shoes. Tailored however short pieces create the ultimate city girl look and prove you are the total fashionista. The use of mustard yellow and tan within this collection presents outfits as minimal, effortless and elegant.
Perfect with: A gorgeous tote bag
This is everyone’s most feared trend, yet has been the most popular on the SS14 catwalk. Where in one instance Michael presents the white on white trend (which is completely stunning) like every other designer he also presents a contrast. He adds his own touch by collaborating with his established SS14 trend, paisley. White is fresh and clean cut and has been most popular on the red carpet. If there is one trend to try this season, this is without a doubt the one.
Perfect with: Opened toed sandals (heels or no heels)
Michael Kors has presented a collection perfect for the city, the beach and the office. Whether you are working this summer, being touristy or lounging by the pool- Michael Kors is impeccable for any occasion.
