How do Michelle Obama, Cindy Crawford, and other fit celebrity moms do it?
Really. How do they balance motherhood, spotlight careers, and still look fab?
Yes, these women didn’t get to where they are without hard work and dedication. But what they have that so many of us don’t are the resources to help them look their best and still fulfill their roles as mothers and career women.
We’re talking personal chefs, trainers, and nannies. NNow, imagine your personal fitness plan if you had all that.
It probably feels more like a dream than an attainable reality. But never fear!
We’re here with 5 personal health and fitness tips to help you balance looking and doing your best. Here we go!
1. No Excuses
You’re ready to see and feel real results from your personal fitness plan.
But you won’t get results by continuing to make excuses for yourself.
We know you’re juggling work, motherhood, and everything in between. How do those new mommy fitness gurus even do it, anyway?
Dedication
If you want to balance your responsibilities and still have time to be fit, you have to plan and manage your time.
If it means waking up an hour before the kids wake up to run on the treadmill, do it. If it means skipping your bedtime television show to do yoga or a core workout, no excuses.
It’s time to accept that you can be fit AND still be a working mother!
2. Socialize at Fitness Meetups
You’re not just a career woman and a mother. You’re also an individual who wants and needs a social life.
The combination of socializing and exercising is a powerful one. With the surge of fitness meetups, it’s easy to find like-minded people who share the same goals as you.
Where to Find Fitness Meetups
First, scope out fitness meetups and trainers on social media.
Search for hashtags related to your city. For example, let’s say you’re located in Chicago. You would want to search for hashtags like #chicagofitness #chicagotrainers #chicagofitnessmeetups.
You can also do a general search for fitness meetups on a Google or Facebook search.
Ask your friends, relatives, and coworkers if they know of any fitness meetups. It’s likely someone knows about a trainer who holds their own classes or group jobs in the area.
Had your eye on a certain fitness class, like Pilates, Zumba, or Crossfit? Now is the time to meet your fitness needs that you and your friends can enjoy together.
Plus, you can all enjoy low-calorie cocktails to reward your hard work! But remember: Moderation is key!
3. Make Walking Fido a Family Event
Do you ever come home and find the kids plopped in front of their tablets?
It’s probably not just them who have too much downtime! Your family’s dog may also be in the habit of a longer-than-necessary afternoon nap.
You and your family may already go for a quick walk around the neighborhood. But burn more calories and get the family (Fido included) excited by going to the park or the beach a couple nights a week.
Bring a ball to pass around, not just for the dog, but for the kids. Come up with fun games to play that everyone can enjoy (and break a bit of a sweat doing).
Dog walking adventures can make an excellent addition to your personal fitness plan. It’s not only a way to burn a couple hundred extra calories. But it’s also a way to get the family exercising more together, as well as the family dog!
Get Out of Town with the Entire Family
On the weekends, make family dog walking an out-of-town adventure.
Go to a nearby state park or hit up the local hiking trails. Pack a healthy picnic in a stylish dog tote bag. View here for the latest styles and other pet-centric gear at That Is My Pet!
4. Healthy Eating for the Whole Family
No personal fitness regimen is complete without adopting healthier eating habits. Yet, as a mother, it’s tough to maintain a personal diet when you have little mouths to feed.
You may have time to whip up the kids their favorite meals and your personal measured dishes and smoothies all measured out (calories and all). But if you’re also working during the day, chances are you don’t have time to cook all that.
So, how do you diet the way you want AND keep your kids’ appetites satisfied?
Don’t just make healthy eating a priority for the entire family. Cook the same healthy foods, but disguised differently. Let’s illustrate what that can look like:
A Variety of Healthy Food Preparation
You and your partner have no problem eating chicken, whether it’s grilled, broiled, or baked. But most kids are content eating chicken nuggets every night of the week. Some are even freaked out by the idea
So, when you’re preparing the chicken, set aside the pieces for you. Then, cut the chicken up into small pieces and make your own chicken nuggets. You can use breadcrumbs, or you can bread their nuggets with quinoa or riced cauliflower.
This will take some research on your part throughout the week. There will be some nights out of the week where you and your kids can enjoy the same meal – complaint free!
But in case you can’t work the same foods into the same meal, prep some of your own meals!
5. When in Doubt, Food Prep
People with hectic schedules rely on food prepping more than most. But working mothers and their families can also benefit from this in a few ways.
Food Prepping Works in More Ways Imaginable
Food prepping means less cooking. Usually, on Sundays, people cook a feast’s worth of food. This food gets them through 3-5 nights without heavy cooking.
This allows mothers to spend more time helping the kids with their homework. Less cooking also means more time to clean, play, or even workout!
Not to mention, a lot of women wind up picking off their kids’ plates when they don’t have time to eat on their own. And all those starchy kiddie foods certainly don’t help any fitness plan.
You can benefit from food planning in more ways than a smaller waistline. Eat better, create more time, and have less stress throughout the week!
Personal Fitness for Powerhouse Moms
There’s no reason why you can’t be a working mother, wife, friend, and trainer – all in the same healthy and fit body!
By establishing a personal fitness plan that meets all your (and your family’s) needs, you can be a powerhouse mom others emulate towards.
