It is spring, the weather gets warmer and warmer as days go by (well, not in London, because the weather here is a bit drunk lately) and the sunning season is happening as we speak. People start returning in parks and jogging, getting their body ready for the summer sun to blaze on it. That is why we, at Estilo Tendances, were thinking of bringing you the latest trends in matter of running, in case you want to start doing it too, but as always, we like to be fashionable so I’ve researched the most stylish running sneakers for you.

Saying this, I want to tell you that, personally, I have started to be very doubtful whether this jogging thing is just another trend, or if it is for real. I am not super sporty myself, so when everybody I knew started saying that they are going jogging every morning and that it is really easy and that their body looks amazing after one run, I thought, why not try it myself? I literally thought I was going to collapse at one point. So, before starting with trends, I want to tell you something, jogging, trend or not, has to be taken seriously and has to have a fair amount of stretching and knowledge of your body’s limits beforehand.
So mark my word when I say that jogging is not easy, but it is so much fun, and your body will thank you for it!
As every article we are doing, we want to give you a little insight into the history of the item we are talking about as we want you to know more about what you are wearing.
History of The Running Sneaker
They first appeared in the late 18th century and were called plimsolls, because they were basically rubber soles, and that’s about it. There was no left or right foot differentiation and they were pretty rough to wear, so in 1892, the US Rubber Company came up with rubber soled shoes with canvas tops, that they called Keds, which, by 1917, began to be mass produced. The same year, Marquis Converse started producing the All-Star, which were meant for playing basketball. In 1923, the Converse All-Stars were endorsed by Chuck Taylor, and Indiana hoops star and they became known as Chuck Taylor All-Stars, which soon became the best-selling basketball shoes of all time.
Sneakers became something global in 1924, when a German man named Adi Dressler patented the first ever Adidas (named after himself, obviously). This brand soon became the most popular athletic shoe brand in the whole world, and track star Jesse Owens wore a pair at the 1936 Olympics, where he won 4 gold medals. Adi’s brother, Rudi, started up another very well-known shoe brand called Puma.
These shoes were mostly worn to play sports, until the movie Rebel Without a Cause hit cinemas and people saw that the lead actor, James Dean wore these shoes without playing a sport.
But it took a while until sneakers’ sales really took off. It wasn’t until 1984, when Michael Jordan signed a contract to wear Air Jordans, that sales really exploded making these particular sneakers the most famous ever made. Because of the competition between companies like Nike, Adidas or Reebok, the way sneakers look is in constant change, as each of them is looking to be better and brighter.
