Everybody has dream destinations they would want to visit at one point or another in their lifetime.
Winter is the best moment to either have them, or plan them as your New Year’s Resolutions to achieve at one point next year. They might be somewhere tropical or in the middle of nowhere or simply an extremely traveled place that you simply haven’t been to. Pick any and still, travelling is the best thing you could do with your time and money to enhance yourself and to have an extra nice and interesting moment, either alone or with your loved ones.
You know what they say: “Travelling is the only thing that you buy which makes you richer“, so why not splurge on that dream holiday you wanted a while ago and have kept postponing it for different reasons? This article will give you some breathtaking ideas for places to visit, while at the same time it will give you that extra nudge that you might have needed to find the money and time for that holiday.
Once a year, go someplace you have never been before- Dalai Lama
I am myself a workaholic and I could postpone holidays for months on end just to get that extra bit of work in and then to be a vegetable for a little while after this work marathon simply because I haven’t stopped working for a second. I have also fooled myself many times indeed that I don’t have the money, time or mood to go anywhere and I have just stayed at home and felt sorry for not even trying. I am saying all this, as for my New Year’s Resolution I have made a list of places I would like to see in my lifetime and some that I would like to realistically visit this year to come. Some of the places on this list are from my own, and I am adding all this extra information about myself to simply state the fact that, if you truly believe in your desire to see, buy or have something, those things will come to you one way or another.

#1 Tropical Destinations
Tropical destinations are an amazing idea for those of you who love warm weather, infinite beaches and loads and loads of salty water from the sea. I am not a huge fan, but even like this, while researching these destinations I am very, very tempted to book a flight to one of them. A great way to escape the ordinary and to visit some of these wonders making everybody jealous. What are you waiting for?
Pink Sand Island, Isla Harbour, Bahamas
While researching for best tropical destinations, I have only accidentally stumbled upon this beautiful sighting. And how could I have not included something breathtakingly pink in my article? Getting its colour from a combination of bits of coral, broken shells, minute rocks and calcium carbonate from tiny invertebrates and a brightly pink coloured animal called Foraminifera, which is a microscopic being found in the underside of reefs. Amazing isn’t it?
Koh Samui, Thailand
The second largest island after Phucket, Koh Samui has abundant tourist resources, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and amazing waters, guarded by beautiful coconut trees. It is a highly recommended tourist tropical area and it provides a great ‘way out’ of your daily routine. Why not give it a try?
A very famous tropical destination, Bora Bora calls you to her with beautiful sea huts, amazingly turquoise waters and great panoramas. Part of the French Polynesia, the island is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef and it is famous for its ‘aqua-centric’ luxury resorts. So, if you feel like splurging on a vacation, this is the place to be.
Weh Island, Indonesia
A small active volcanic island northwest of Sumatra, Indonesia’s largest island, Weh Island provides a mixture of mountainous areas cut by beautiful waters. The photos are truly magical and they really make you go there with the first flight. The island is best known for its ecosystem, having more than 60 square km of inland and sea around it declared wildlife protection areas, home of various rare and threatened species, such as the megamouth shark and the threatened toad.
Laucala Island, Fiji
One of the most luxurious private islands on the list, Laucala Island is a wonder to behold. Having some of the leading hotels in the world, it is the place where you will feel like a superstar and you will never want to leave.
#2 Castles From Around The World
Castles are a great thing to visit. They provide the traveller with a fresco of the greatest times the castle has been through and it is an amazing opportunity to find something about the country you are visiting or, if it’s your own country, about the olden times. I will give you 5 different castles that provide some amazing sightings in places where maybe you haven’t thought there were castles ever before. Here they are:
Osaka Castle, Japan
On a beautiful Japanese setting, this traditional Castle found in the city of Osaka provides an amazing setting that looks as if it were cut out of Memoirs of a Geisha. It matches perfectly the cherry blossoms found around it in spring, but the winter snow makes it magical.
Mont Saint-Michel, France
Mont Saint-Michel, is a famous island Castle in Normandy, France. It looks absolutely mesmerizing at any time of the day and in any season. It is the seat of the monastery with the same name and it has strategic fortifications all around, standing 600 metres from the land, it is readily accessible on low-tide, while on high-tide you can only take a boat from the osland back to the land.
The Alcazar of Segovia, Spain
This beautiful sighting coming from Spain is a magical setting in winter. Built originally as an ancient Arab fortress, it has served as a royal palace, a state prison, the Royal Artillery College and a military academy. It is famous for its rather unusual shape, as the bow of a ship, but also for its placement, on a rocky crag right above the confluence of two rivers near the Guadarrama Mountains.
Coral Castle, Miami, Florida
Said to have superpowers, Ed Leedskalnin, the builder of the Coral Castle would have even greeted you to his home,if would you have visited it in the 1940s. It is documented that none ever witnessed him building it, having to cut massive blocks of coral and carving them to fit his needs and desires, he has built the castle as his place of refuge after being refused his marriage proposal. He claims to have understood and learnt the secrets of building the ancient pyramids and this is how this wonder was possible.
Chateau Frontenac, Québec, Canada
In the heart of Québec city, Chateau Frontenac, now a 5-star hotel is an amazing sight in the middle of winter, as well as in any other season you may decide to visit it in. Prior to becoming a hotel, it was the residence of the British colonial governors of Lower Canada and Quebec. Nowadays it is generally recognized at the most photographed hotel in the world and its surrounding area is as magical as it can be.

A great way to explore, plus destinations everyone wants to see, the well-known part of this article, focuses on those travel destinations everyone in the world has heard of. Important cities or sightings, filled with culture and diversity, these places have it all. Let’s check them out.

Paris, the City of Lights, or the City of Love, one of the most prestigious and important fashion capitals around the world and the place that claims to have invented fashion a long time ago. Home to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, only two of its various amazing tourist sites, it is truly a capital worth seeing. Plus, it can be a great vacation place with your loved one, or with your best friends at Fashion Week.
London, United Kingdom
London, yet another wonderful capital city, known for its fashion novelty, but also for various prestigious universities and amazing museums and tourist destinations to see. Filled with culture and history, it is a definite must on your visit list, but always check the weather, as it can drastically change from morning until evening.
I think everyone of you has seen the very famous Sydney New Year’s fireworks on TV, at least once. I know myself as being very keen on seeing them every year and they have never let me down. Whether you want to go there for New Year’s Eve, or you want to simply visit this great city, don’t forget that it is filled with a lot of culture and tourist attractions and that the extremely long flight is always worth it.
Niagara Falls, USA
As this part of the list seems to be my ‘been there-done that’, since I have now realised that I have visited all these places, my last well-known stop couldn’t be something I haven’t seen yet. Going to the Niagara Falls was truly the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life so far. It is something I really think everyone should see at least once and a place where just staying and watching, while the water ‘rains’ slowly on you is extremely relaxing and wonderful to share with your loved ones.

In Western Australia, Karijini National Park provides you with a great array of visiting sites, from waterfalls to amazing canyons and different gorges, providing you with amazing displays of the layers of rock existent around the area.
Solitary Geizer, Yellowstone National Park, USA
I am pretty sure a lot of you have heard of Yellowstone, if not in the past maybe now, as there were several articles about it only last week in the news. It is best known for its geizers and colourful geotermal waters that have now been proven to have changed their colours by human ‘hand’. Being one of the first ever national parks to exist in the world, it provides a great array of geothermal facilities as well as an impressive wildlife.
Bigar Waterfall, Caras-Severin, Romania
Bigar Waterfall, found in Romania, is a beautiful nature wonder and a protected area in the southwest of the country. One of the most unusual waterfalls in the world and truly one of the most beautiful in Romania where the water spreads in unusually tiny shreds, but also because it is located exactly on the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator.
The Amazon Rainforest, Brazil
The Amazon rain forest, in Brazil, is a famous trail where you can truly find amazing sightings, but also luxury resorts to hold you inside. It is a great choice if you want to have a long trip and truly explore something that you haven’t ever seen before.
#5 Winter Perfect Destinations
A small village in Austria, it is the absolutely perfect place for a romantic getaway, but also for quality time spent with your family. Known for its production of salt, it has some of the earliest archaeological evidence of the existence of Celts in the area. What’s it not to love?
An amazing fishing village, located in a perfect winter destination, Norway, it is the place to be if you are a fan of cold weather and great panoramas. It is quite remote, but for a quiet winter feeling it is the best choice you could have.
Billingual village in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, Gstaad is a luxurious choice for your winter vacation. Having numerous slopes, plenty of snow and amazing restaurants it is yet again a great choice for those of you who enjoy cold weather and great views.

Known for its opulence and grandeur, Le Palais de Versailles, is a true wonder that you truly must see, whether you go to France just for this, or for some other famous and amazing sightings there.
Astronomical Clock, Prague, Czech Republic
Prague in itself is a great city to see, but the Astronomical clock in the centre of the city is more than just worth seeing and re-seeing every time you walk by it. Made with great care and a lot of science, its history is amazing and for this totally worth hiring a guide.
Greece is known for its beauty and history, dating from Ancient times, and Athens, its capital makes no exception whatsoever from this. It is a great country to visit at any time of the year and it is more than simply amazing in terms of culture.
