After a season filled with marsala and burgundy shades and accents, it’s time to turn on a new page and go to more serene and peaceful colors for 2016. Not one, but two. For the first time, Pantone introduces two shades as colors of the year. Which is the Pantone color of the year 2016, you might ask? Easy: Rose Quartz and Serenity.

“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace” (Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director at Pantone Color Institute).

This delicate take on Pantone color of the year 2016 leads to a state of well being, peacefulness and it is perfect for those who want to concentrate on something and for those who are looking for a stress free comfort zone. Colors are made to be used as a form of expression and a form of experiencing in fashion. Blending two tones leads to an expression of a mood, an attitude.

Rose quartz (pale rose), a color of spring and winter, in my opinion, seems to be “a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure”. On the other hand, serenity (pale blue) looks like the sky on a summer day, calming and refreshing, “weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”

Art, paintings, and canvases, along with the natural resources and nature will emerge on the runways all over the world, with a kickoff this spring, starting with unexpected combinations of colors inspired from the urban life, architecture, shapes and lines. It will be a show you’ll want to see from the front row. Let’s see how the Pantone color of the year 2016, rose quartz and serenity, blend into this painting and let’s check out how to wear them on clothes and accessories.

How To Wear Rose Quartz And Serenity For Clothes

#1 Shirt

When it comes to shirts, one can never have too many, especially if they are such beautiful colors and different models. Pale tones such as the Pantone color of the year 2016, rose quartz and serenity, provide a delicate feminine touch to your outfit.

How to wear it?

Since bows are the new big thing regarding shirts, why not add one to your shirt (if it doesn’t already have one) and go in contrasting tones: wear pink to express your feminine side and mix it with black for the badass side of you. For the black part, you can try a pair of black skinny or boyfriend jeans, or a leather skirt.

In my opinion, a serenity shirt is perfect to be mixed with a pair of regular jeans or a denim jumpsuit. Blue attracts blue. Sure, you can mix it with other colors as well: white, orange, green tones, brown, black. Lot of options here.

#3 Undergarments

Undergarments. Underwear. Lingerie. Put it however you want, a girl has to have them. They are her special fashion pieces that bring the feminine in her and inspire confidence.

With nothing else. When you’ve got a beautiful outfit such as this pink quartz kimono on, nothing else is required. You can enjoy a silent night, alone or not, at home.

#4 Knitwear

Everybody loves some knit to keep warm when it comes to winter and cold winter days. So bundle up and stock up on some pale pink and pale blue sweaters, cardigans, and turtlenecks.

How to wear it?

The great part about a knit sweater is that it can be mixed with almost everything, colorful or colorless. However, mixing pastel and light tones can be a beautiful optical effect, such as this combination of nude, white and rose quartz. It’s so great, I wouldn’t change a thing.

As I said earlier, serenity may attract and look great mixed with other tones of blue. Wear this high neck serenity sweater with a denim skirt (it can also be a midi one, not just mini skirt) or jeans. If you really want to shake things up, wear this sweater with a pair of high-waist sleek office trousers. You will have a perfect combo.

#5 Dress

The Pantone colors of the year look great on dresses as well. Cute, simple, classic. What do you think? Would you wear a dress in the Pantone color of the year 2016?

How to wear it?

If I were to wear this dress, I would go in two directions: either wear white or nude accessories with it, shoes being included, either go on full-color block and combine multiple colors. For the rose quartz dress, I would wear a pair of marsala heels and I would dare a purple clutch.

How to wear it?

This is a perfect type of dress for me. It has the right length and its sleeves are loose. Also, it is tight on the waist. When talking about dresses, there’s nothing much to add except jewelry and shoes. For this dress, I would choose a statement necklace or just chandelier earrings. Pumps or stilettos are the fit for this one.

#6 Skirt

Skirts are a girl’s best friend. They can make the difference between the feminine and the masculine side. Also, a skirt can be worn not just with heels. See how the midi skirts are combined with sneakers and get inspired from street styles around the world.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN WEAR THE MIDI SKIRT!

How to wear it?

A skirt like this can be worn with many tops, from the most simple cotton T-shirts to lace and sheer shirts, sweaters, cardigans, blazers. Wear this skirt with stockings and knee high boots. Tuck your shirt in.

How to wear it?

I find this type of skirt to be a little pretentious. I don’t’ know exactly what else will fit beside a pair of heels. The color, though, is lovely. For a top, I wouldn’t go with a long sleeve shirt or T-shirt. I think a cropped top is the most appropriate solution here. It also looks great combined with lace.

#7 Shorts

We love shorts, especially in the summer. But the fun fact is that they can also be worn in the winter, with colorful stockings. However, you must go to the gym and workout your legs. You need to put an accent on them. Be prepared!

How to wear them?

In the winter, definitely with ankle booties and dark colored stockings. In summer, with a pair of espadrilles and a sheer shirt. You can also add a trench in the spring and autumn, just in case.

A while back, we used to think that pink is for girls and blue for boys. Today, women wear blue, men wear pink. Nobody cares anymore about any rules, especially in the fashion industry because there are NO rules. Everybody wears what they please and what makes them feel comfortable. And guess what? It works!

There are plenty of options from which to choose a perfect rose quartz and/or serenity fashion item and mix it with other cool colors and textures. But how about some accessories in the Pantone color of the year 2016? Are you ready to give them a look? Let’s see here some of the coolest rose quartz and serenity accessories a girl can wear, shall we?

How To Wear Rose Quartz And Serenity For Accessories

The softer take of Pantone color of the year 2016 has also extended not just to clothes, but also to a various range of accessories from bags, shoes, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, chains, hats and gloves and many more. Interested in how to wear them? See bellow.

#1 Bag

A bag, handbag, or any other model in between, is an essential on a woman’s must-have list. No lady goes out without her purse. Even if she doesn’t have much to carry, she will still bring a purse, maybe a smaller one.

Seeing how this rose quartz bag is small, I think it is appropriate for any outgoing event, except those elegant. I would wear this small bag with jeans, or with a feminine dress, in the winter, or in the summer. It fits them all. However, if you’re an office kind of girl, I’m guessing this bag is not the right fit for you, you might want something bigger, right?

How to wear them?

Four seasons, four examples. I would wear this lovely pair of heeled sandals in the summer, obviously, with other pale tones such as nude, pale yellow, green, brown, blue. They can be matched with skinny jeans or a white lace dress or just shorts and a top.

#3 Scarf

During the cold season, it’s best we keep warm and cozy with some of the softest and cutest knitted scarves. Do you agree? I’ve developed a habit and wherever I’m going, I’m not leaving until my neck is protected with a scarf. It can be a cool accessory.

How to wear it?

It’s a softer and elegant version of a knitted scarf. This one would probably match even more elegant outfits and I can say that it is as soft as it looks. Wear it with everything.

Wear this serenity chunky knit scarf with jeans and a casual look. It also looks good with knitted sweaters especially in colors such as nude, light brown, camel, beige, white, orange.

When talking about jewelry, there are a few essentials on a woman’s list, essential that play a very important part in an outfit: they give the finishing touch, thus completing it. So, every outfit requires some piece of jewelry: earrings, bracelets, necklaces.

How to wear them?

This pair of rose quartz triangle stone stud earrings can be worn on different occasions, from a simple day at the office to a cocktail event in the evening.

A beautiful hand must be emphasized with a beautiful bracelet. What better way to do this if not by indulging in the Pantone color of the year 2016 and trying on a rose quartz one? Or how about a serenity one?

How to wear it?

I think this is a bracelet that can make a statement if you’re not wearing other jewelry. It’s bold, but also feminine and fine and it’s perfect for a day at the office or maybe an artistic event or cocktail  in the second part of the day.

#6 Bodychain

Body chains are a newer type of body jewelry and surely are not for everybody and do not fit everybody. They are a part of a more select category and it takes some courage to pull off a look accessorized with a chain like this.

How to wear it?

If I were to wear for the first time a body chain with rose quartz feather shoulders, I would probably wear it best over a simple black dress. If you’re a beginner in this area, don’t push it. Wait until you feel comfortable with it and then upgrade your look.

#7 Necklace

I love wearing necklaces, especially those with personality and those that “want” to make a statement or just say something. They are everything when it comes to a boring outfit.

How to wear it?

My first option for this lovely necklace would be a white office shirt and high waist trousers – for a day at the office. Or, a white casual shirt with boyfriend jeans – for a more casual feel.

#8 Hat

Hats are a great fashion accessory, especially in the cold season. Don’t be shy to experiment and see which type suits you best: a pom-pom knit hat or maybe a fedora? Get one of each.

How to wear it?

Pom-pom knit hats are a major it accessory this winter and they look great even with sporty outfits, but also with jeans and knitwear. I would wear one of these when going skiing or playing other winter sports.

Fedora hats are one of my favorite head accessories there are and I would love to own such a hat in one of Pantone’s colors of the year. I’m not always a fan of mix and match, so I wouldn’t probably match it with a particular outfit or color. I would just wear it.

#9 Belt

Belts are the perfect accessories when you feel like you have an incomplete or boring outfit. Just put a belt in the Pantone color of the year 2016 on your waist and there you go, it completely changes your look. Try it!

How to wear it?

Whenever you feel like putting an accent on your waist. I would wear it a pair of black high waist office trousers. Just imagine how it would look, black and serenity… Just perfect!

#10 Gloves

Hands also need protection in the cold season in order to stay hydrated and not to get all dry. Besides gloves, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to carry a small hand cream in your purse, just in case you happen to need it.

How to wear them?

Accessorize your hands with a pair of beautiful rose quartz knit gloves. There are no rules to wearing them: wear them whenever you feel cold. If you happen to love more a pair of leather gloves, be my guest, but try to get them in one of these two colors of the year. You won’t regret it.

Rella ‘Betto‘ Cable Knit Mittens

I think that the Pantone color of the year 2016, rose quartz and serenity, if you take a look at them, brings nothing but calmness and relaxation. This alluring duo is a perfect match for other mid-tones such as purples, greens, browns, yellows and others. They can be paired with a lot of tones, you just have to use your imagination. Clearly this year we’ll be going to see a lot of these colors, everywhere, not just in fashion. Can’t wait!
