Miu Miu is one of the quirkiest fashion brands around and due to that, the most memorable. Opened in 1993 by Miuccia Prada, Miu Miu is known for it’s gorgeous ensembles and divine accessories. Favourites of the brand include Kerry Washington and Lupita Nyong’o who have chosen Miu Miu for the red carpet on numerous occasions.
For me Miu Miu’s Autumn/Winter 14 collection was a favourite. This brand appeals to me like no other focusing on colours and vibrance as opposed to texture and trend. This catwalk was filled with persona’s and alter ego’s that appeal to your inner fashionista.
Ravishing raincoats

Transparency was hot on the ready to wear runway in last years AW collection and it is back. Wearing minis paired with oversized jumpers and then an outfit defining rain coat is chic and fun. Too often in the Autumn/Winter coats take over our life for practicality as opposed to style, Miu Miu have solved this problem. Once again we see the overlap of seasons, each are becoming more complex and connotations are weakening.
Metallics

As soon as I was exposed to these ensembles, I immediately though of Blake Lively’s Spring/Summer 14 Valentino coat which topped all the best dressed lists. Metallics are feminine, elegant and flattering and Miu Miu have quite openly experimented with shapes, colours and combinations. My favourite is the third look. Who would have ever though a sweater and metallic dress could look this good? The house of Prada are rule breakers and this is their key to runway success.
School girl preppy vs. The city girl

These ensembles are character defining. School girl preppy chic and the city girl go hand in hand with one another. The city girl is a transgression from school girl preppy chic however what I adore most is their overlap for all those who lie in between. Back packs and padded quilted jackets are the highlight of the school girl trend. Colours and layers are used to perfection, effortless and a little laid back. Instead the city girl is powerful and dominant focusing on structuring and tailoring but that does not mean she is boring and serious. Miu Miu is a brand that deviates from conventions and journeys along the spectrum.
To convince yourself, watch the runway here:
Which is your favourite trend darlings? Are you a preppy chic school girl or a city girl?
