Milan Fashion Week Highlight

Milan fashion week was everything. After two weeks in New York and London we were seeking something refreshing, and the gorgeous Italian glamour and luxury fashion houses gave us just that. These pieces are filled with personality, an inner alter ego and overwhelming character.

Milano is magical.
Milano is marvellous.
Milano is magnificent.
Most of all Milano is all about mastery.

#1 Colour

Fausto Puglisi, Giamba and Versace

Colour was everywhere on the Milan runway, just bigger and brighter than ever. We often find such trends present and dominant within Spring/Summer collections but it’s transgression to Autumn/Winter are more than welcomed. These girls are unafraid. What is your aim when you wear such an ensemble? To have all eyes on you, and the use of block colours allow just that, beautiful beyond belief. These shades are understated and deviate from conventional tones which are perfect for those Autumnal months when outerwear is everything but sometimes warmth can override style. These ensembles and the best-dressed lists fit hand in hand.

#2 Technique

Sportmax and Trussardi

Have we found the most perfect day to night wear? These are power pieces that will be the envy of the office during the day and all the fabulous bars as soon as it’s time clock off and have drinks with your girls. Peplum on peplum is a trend that has only just entered the spotlight but it has somehow always been there subconsciously. The key to ensuring this trend excels is tailoring, and the Sportmax runway have made us excited to embrace this unconventional technique. Leather, on the other hand has the ability to add a little edge to every ensemble and held an overwhelming presence in Milan. It just so happens this Trussardi look is my favourite due to its delightful colour paired with those gorgeous dark lips.

#3 Tailored trousers

Prada, Philosophy, Gucci

Tremendous tailoring in the form of trousers was everywhere because hellooo darlings … us 21st-century girls are ready to dominate. Tailored trousers are the ultimate go-to piece when it comes to power dressing as they are ridiculously flattering and can be worn in so many different ways. My favourite of this amazing trend found on the Milan runway are those darling Prada skinny flares, we could never imagine ourselves wearing something as such … until now that is.

#4 Workwear

Just Cavalli, Bottega Venta, Alberta Ferretti,

Work wear has just entered an unparalleled universe. Getting up and choosing your perfect ensemble becomes the highlight of your day and makes the office that little bit more barable. New York and London excelled in presenting work wear, but the epitome of this trend was found in the beautiful city of Milan. These pieces push boundaries and thresholds, but do not exceed them, paving way for appropriate and wonderful work attire that all your colleagues will be in awe of.

#5 Retro

Moschino and MSGM

The Milano runway was sassier than ever and these two ensembles prove it. The colours, the graphics and the laid back attitude are approachable and anticipated.

#6 The ensembles that tell a story

Dolce and Gabbana

These two revolutionary designers brought something amazing to the Milano runway. The Dolce & Gabbana collection and show as a whole, was a celebration of mothers. We saw babies and young children walk the catwalk with their mothers for the first time. The use of embroidered florals on monochrome palettes were a perfect balance that represent roles as a fashionistas and those found in motherhood.

#7 High society wonders

Emilio Pucci

Ever dreamed of attending a high society gala and being the belle of the ball? A Cinderella situation perhaps? The lady in red is striking and exquisite. This Emilio Pucci piece is just one example of the flawless eveningwear we found on the Milan runway. Here you are exposed to the new and upcoming society Queens who head all our best-dressed lists. Striking and statement making meaning inevitable success in the realm of evening wear.

#8 Globe trotter

Roberto Cavalli

This darling is ready to sail the seven seas and assert power over all the fashion cities. This is a new take on modernity seeking all the inspiration from the past whilst adding accessories and cuts found in the present. This ensemble is curiosity provoking and mesmerising to ever FROW goer.
