Etro Women’s Collection for Autumn/Winter 2015 RTW was summed up in two words: “Controlled maximalism”, as Veronica Etro pointed out. For this collection, she used a brown-gold color autumnal pallette and a single wave of materials, having the patchwork visual effect.. And when I say patchwork, I mean a lot of patchwork. It is the main “ingredient” of the collection, along some other interesting textiles such as brocades and tweeds.
When I was a little girl I though brown to be an ugly and boring color. Ten years later, I changed my mind and discovered that it wasn’t ugly at all, but a very fascinating and versatile color. Brown, khaki, chestnut, copper, with all their light and dark shades, are the colors of Earth and this means life.

It would seem that Veronica Etro has taken inspiration from wallpapers, carpets and other tapestries. The result was an abundance of fine-looking clothing items. “I mixed a lot of different materials in each piece. Even the prints have a textural 3-D quality.” An interesting take on interior design.
My eyes were all over the place. I didn’t know what to look at first. I tried to analyze every little detail and I still can’t comprehend all of it. It’s just amazing how some things are done. Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourselves. All kinds of embroideries, mohair, suede, leather, jacquards, tweed, brocade, velvet, silk and surely other more were involved.

“I wanted to bring the outside indoors,” said Etro. And that she did. A spectacular, eclectic and eccentric collection! All the pieces were beautifully made and stated just the right thing. The designer said that she would like living with this collection. And she may not be wrong: the military precision and the geometric mosaic have made the Etro Women’s Collection a powerful one. When describing the muse of this particular collection, Veronica said that “she is quite eclectic, extremely eccentric, but still very bourgeois, very formal”.
So, if you like Etro, you should follow the designer’s collections. And if you like the boho-luxe style, you should really get inspired from Etro Women’s Collection, because it’s one of the go-to fashion labels that best describes this type of look.
