Another year, another H&M designer collaboration.
Last year we saw the darling designer, Isabel Marant being plunged into the spotlight as she succeeded in creating a too die for collection for one of our favourite high street shops. The recognition she gained was immense, so we can only predict Alexander Wang will be the talk of the industry when his collection is released in selected stores on November 6th.
For a designer who is renown worldwide and shows both his own collections and those of Balenciaga, due to his role as creative director, at fashion week this is just another accomplishment to add to his eternal list.

Whilst Balenicaga is more elegant and chic, and Alexander Wang is a little more edgy, his H&M collection took us a little by surprise. Of course we knew sportswear was one of Alexander’s true areas of passion but did we ever think this would play a central role in this high street collaboration?
Of course this is not just any sportswear, this collection has the same dominant presence, if not more powerful, than any other day/evening wear collection. Black is everywhere, iconic of Alexander, and it has never been more dynamic, flattering and ultimately affordable.
Colour is absent …
However isn’t black everyone’s go to? Alexander’s lack of colour draws attention to the character of the outfit, the most important aspect. This is the result of when an it girl meets sportswear. The sportswear is embraced but the ‘it girl’ never leaves. Look at those chic cuts paired with flat shoes and gloves, this is glamour and risk paired.

This body con mini could easily be paired with slingbacks and a block coloured clutch, but that isn’t the Alexander way. His vision within this collection is a cross over between city glamour and girl with an edge. Within this black dress, understated, if not camflouaged, detail can be found. This is a deliberate use of features that will provoke curiosity, I mean wouldn’t you ask for a closer look?
When heels meet gym wear…
Have you ever dreamed of wearing heels to the gym? Or instead wearing gym wear whilst wearing heels? I think not. There is only one little catch. No longer is this deemed inappropriate but hot on trend.
Imagine wearing this cropped top (£25), skirt (£35), sock (£13) combination with a pair of killer heeled boots (£150), it’s inevitable all eyes will be on you my darlings. These boots are my favourite of the whole collection and are a worthwhile investment as you can wear them with simply anything. This is the beauty of a high street collaboration, all your favourites are high street prices when pairs deemed less magnificence are hundreds if not a few thousand pound more because of the label.
This H&M collaboration allows those who adore Alexander to embrace his fabulous designs at an affordable price.
Top, £28 and trousers £60
Top, £30
Some of these pieces are more affordable than what some high street brands charge for their sportswear so we have no excuses or restraints.
Next time you are at the gym you will without a doubt receive compliments about your attire, however, this is not Alexander’s aim (although it’s an added bonus). He wants all women to experiment with sports casual wear. Whether this is shopping, dining or going out, these are not the type of tracksuits that are for lounging but instead for dominating. This collection is powerful and dramatic. Make your mark on the fashion industry by not only wearing but flaunting your on-trend designer attire.
