If so, then you need to read this post. You might be surprised to find out that there are all kinds of dishes that you can make with your blender.
Read on for some of our favorite recipes that are right for any time of the year, meal, or craving!
Make Your Own Marinara
The first item on our list of blender recipes is designed to help you to break the habit of buying pre-made pasta sauce.
You might think that buying sauce straight from the grocery store is a healthy option. However, you’ll be shocked to learn that some popular sauces have between 70-80 calories — per half a cup.
It’s always best to go the DIY route, so you can control exactly what goes into your sauce.
To make the perfect blender marinara, you’ll need:
- 1 can of whole tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- Basil to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Half of a white onion
Just toss the ingredients in, blend to your heart’s content, and pour over your favorite pasta dish!
A Healthier Dill Ranch
Everyone loves ranch dressing. So much so, in fact, that recently ranch powerhouse Hidden Valley unveiled their new ranch-inspired clothing line.
However, just because you’re eating broccoli and carrots with your ranch doesn’t mean that it’s always a healthy option. Sadly, ranch — even a lower fat version — is still loaded with calories.
Take things into your own hands by making your own in your blender.
You’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 6 ounces of your favorite lemon yogurt
- 1/2 an ounce of chopped dill
- 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper
- 2/3 a cup of heavy cream
- Optional: 1/3 of a shallot
Start by tossing the yogurt, apple cider vinegar, and your shallot into your blender. Once they’re mixed, you can add in the remaining ingredients. Feel free to make any adjustments you like, and serve over salads.
Sweet Potato Soup
There’s nothing better than a steaming cup of soup to warm you up on those colder nights. To make our favorite sweet potato soup recipe, you’ll need:
- 4 cups of chicken/veggie broth
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- Pepper to taste
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 2 peeled sweet potatoes
- 1 chopped white onion
- 2 pressed cloves of garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- Optional parsley for garnish
- Optional 8 ounces of chopped bacon
If you’ve decided to go with the bacon, your first step will obviously be to fry it up and chop it.
Then, toss the bacon, onion, and garlic into your blender. Once they’re smooth, throw in the sweet potatoes. Then, add your broth, your thyme, and the remaining ingredients.
If you have a blender that heats up your soup, just let it finish the soup cycle. If not, then let it simmer on your stove for about 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
Savory Salsa
Chips and salsa are the staples of any perfect holiday party. But do you really want to serve your guests a store-bought salsa?
Instead of hitting the grocery aisles, kick your salsa up a notch by preparing your own chunkier version. Plus, this will allow you to control the spiciness level of your salsa, so your eyes won’t be watering the whole night.
You’ll need:
- A chopped white onion
- 1 green or red bell pepper, chopped
- 4 diced tomatoes
- 2-3 jalapeno peppers (more depending on desired spiciness)
- 2 cloves of pressed garlic
- 2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 a cup of chopped cilantro
Start by blending your peppers, onions, tomatoes, and garlic. Then, add in the lemon or lime juice. Once they’re fully blended, you can add in the rest of the ingredients. Make sure you prepare several batches, as we’re sure everyone will be clamoring for more!
