We can’t argue the fact the men, Italian men included, love women and, of course, their mothers. That is why Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have dedicated this collection, called “Viva la Mamma”, to mothers around the world and to the idea of motherhood. 11 mothers and their children were on stage of Dolce & Gabbana A/W 2015 RTW Collection and what song was playing during the show? Mama by Spice Girls.
This was a collection that brought homage to the duo’s mothers and was filled with flowers, feminine shapes, lace dresses and skirts. Many of the outfits were personalized with words such as “mamma”, “i love you”, “amore”, “j’taime mama” and other children’s drawings, printed on them.
The main motif of the collection was the red rose. It popped up everywhere: embroidered red rose or roses on a lot of dresses, silver or sequins, in children’s drawings and even in the printed image of the Madonna and child.
Let’s celebrate mothers!
As you can see, beautiful white and pale blue, pink or nude dresses were featured with a gorgeous red rose embroidered on them. Some of them also included beautiful words dedicated to mothers everywhere. The Dolce & Gabbana A/W 2015 RTW Collection was a true hit, it was the stage of a very emotional show.
You can see in the middle how happy Bianca Balti is. And also how pregnant. She is radiant and very feminine in that simple nude dress. Sequin and silver rose motifs were printed on some flesh tone dresses and gave them a real glow.
Pastel fur coats were seen in the show. Also, a dark green one popped up on the runway, together with a red roses printed dress in the same color, and a green bag filled with red roses. The heels also matched the outfit.

Embellished furry and fluffy headphones (an interesting accessory and the contemporary crown of the avant-garde queen!) completed the outfits printed in children’s handwriting with lovely words addressed to their mothers and drawings, all in pastel colors.
Long sleeve or sleeveless floral dresses, pencil printed skirts or flower printed shirts were everywhere. Every outfit was touched by them, one way or the other. Some of the outfits were accessorized with headbands or necklaces and earrings, small jewelled handbags and sexy heels. The Madonna and child surrounded by red roses and colored letters was printed on a couple of dresses, giving them a sort of Victorian-royal look.
Because black is a classic and the combination black-red will always do, a section of the Dolce & Gabbana A/W 2015 RTW Collection was clearly stated this way. Words like “amore” and “mamma” were printed on black shirts in the form of necklaces while mixed with simple, roses printed skirts. A classic look. Some black capes were involved and black dresses printed with nothing else except red roses. Even lingerie-inspired lace dresses were there, giving an influence from the early 60s.
Getting to the more elegant part of the collection, a lot of models with all-black dresses have walked on the runway, presenting the Italian woman and mother: elegant, classic, sophisticated, stylish. Italian attitude!
The final pieces were a collection of white silk dresses printed in Crayola drawings – children’s artwork. It looked really colorful, sweet and dreamy. Domenico Dolce’s nieces and nephews are the ones who made most of the drawings.
“She’s always there, she’s the person you can always call. Every man everywhere has a mother.”,
said Gabbana. One of Stefano’s favourite childhood memories is the red scent of his mother’s red lipstick. So, the red rose was everything to the collection.
“The positive message of the show—and the collection—was that everything we are is an extension of where we came from. One more time: Viva La Mamma”.
