“Sweet…,” said Miuccia, “but violent. I wanted impact. How can you be strong with pastels?”
Quite an unexpected season to go pastel. but there you have it: Prada went pastel this fall (even the walls were pastel). The A/W 2015 RTW Prada Collection was all about the color combination: she used pale and salmon pink, mustard, teal, bright and also pale blue and pea green, a color I thought to be quite exquisite. Seems to me like a yummy collection with all that pastel in it. And this is how you play your pastels strong.
Prada alternated very feminine suits with tweed coats, tweed suits, petal shaped skirts and babydoll pastel dresses that were really sweet. All outfits in the A/W 2015 RTW Prada Collection had something that stood strong and were touched by bright color accents, opera long or short leather gloves, brooches, ponytails and pointy toe shoes with chunky heels, small fur collars or other accessories that made a huge difference.
Prada – an explosion of colors
Take a look at these charming suits and coats made of some type of sculptural neoprene. “In fact, there was something a bit cartoonish about the pieces cut from a hyper-smooth, spongy sci-fi fabric that most of us took for neoprene. It was actually a double-faced jersey. “I could do things with that fabric I couldn’t do with another fabric,” Miuccia enthused.”
Tweed
Prada’s colorful tweeds with fur strips in contrasting shades have added a modern look to that old-school material. A very original interpretation!
Babydoll
The baby doll dresses, with fur collars and fur bows on shoulders, featured some vertical bands of crystals, making the models look ultrafeminine.
Crazy color vibes
If you’re feeling a bit crazy and eccentric, try these types of looks. They sure do combine colors and have a certain IT vibe attached.

Pastels – a closer look
The final pieces of the collection stayed true to pastel: the babydoll dresses in pale blue, pink, grey and the suits in yellow, pale pink and candy pink. Very long gloves and flower details: the perfect and final touches!
“The “variation on beauty” touched on a longtime fascination of Miuccia’s: the relationship between the real and the fake. Is beauty created by genetic modification or surgical intervention any less “real” than natural beauty? This show set out to address that issue from both ends of the spectrum”.
