Hey there lovely fashionistas! It has been a while, however it is fashion weeks month and we are in the midst of it. It is crazy exciting time for everyone who loves and holds fashion as dearly as I do.
New York Fashion Week just passed and it was an incredibly strong start for the fashion month this season. There is something very special to NYFW and every self-respecting fashion addict knows it. Non of us can put our finger on it – may be it is the fact that it is the first fashion week, or just the magical atmosphere that the City exhausts or the extra glamorous attendance list, however we all feel it.
2015 NYFW proved to be a very anticipated. Even more than the usual excitement accumulated by the long waiting. What was extra special this year was the fact that there were several shows we were all holding our breath for to see what will happen. Now as NYFW is behind our backs it is time to reflect. EstiloTendences already showed you some inspiring street style looks from fashion week now it is high time we turn our attention to the runaway.

I will not dare to talk about trends this time, despite the eminent black presence, because as Anna Wintour said: Trend to me is a dirty word. The Editor in Chief of Vogue described this fashion week as being all about confidence and strong point of view, individuality and reflecting a woman’s character. And who dare not agree with the Queen Bee of Fashion.
Let’s see the highlights from the most anticipated shows!
#1 Alexander Wang
The main reason behind the added attention to this season’s Wang show was no other than tha fact that Kendall Jenner made her high fashion debut in it. Yes I am indeed talking about Kim Kardashian‘s little sis and Kanye West‘s sister-in-law. Actually, Kendall did a pretty good job and was quite unrecognizable in Wang’s goth styling – if it was not for the West family sitting front row supporting her, one would not even know it was her. However, in my opinion Wang’s brilliant collection deserved the attention on its own grounds. This time Wang went really dark and did almost all black collection. The styling was even more extreme taking inspiration from the Goths and heavy metal bands but the garments themselves were very wearable but not without the edge we all know Wang for.
If you cannot recognize her Kendall is the first model from left to right.

#2 Kanye West x Adidas Originals
This was probably the show most talked about beforehand. The reason for this buzz was the fact that nobody knew what exactly to expect from the scandalous and self contradicting public persona of Kanye. The whole collection was a representation exactly of that. There was certain bitter-sweetness to it – the distressed knits were contrasting with the nude flesh-toned body stockings. This is what gave it character and won some points for West, because as we know it was all about individuality this time. The overall theme of the show was military, however most of the models looked like the aftermath of a battlefield. When it comes to Kanye his self-confidence and cockiness is not for everybody’s taste. The fact that he dared to bring his diva-like attitude to the hectic fashion schedule and start his show late even for a fashion event showed certain insensitivity and the fact that he has still a lot to learn about the fashion world. After all, here he is judged on completely different criteria.

#3 Oscar de la Renta
This show was the one I was anticipating the most and I am sure I am not the only one who was holding my breath to see how it will turn out. It is the cherry on top for NYFW highlights. Everybody in fashion not only knew Oscar’s sophisticated genius but also deeply adored and loved it. The whole fashion world was devastated by the designer’s passing last October and we still all mourn the loss of this huge talent. All in all, Peter Chopping, the handy-picked by de la Renta as his successor, had some pretty big shoes to fill. He left a type written note on each seat in the show reading: “I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the creative director of Oscar de la Renta, unfortunately things did not go according to our plans and I never had the chance to work with Oscar, which is something I deeply regret.” This sentimental gesture brought tears to my eyes as I am sure it did with everyone on the venue. The collection itself was a marvelous tribute to the late designer. Choppin managed to keep up with the brand’s aesthetics and the same time to add something of himself. All things considered, it was an exquisite start for the new head of design.
