Believe it or not, but we managed to get to our 6th edition of INSPIRE ME project!
I am so thankful and grateful to have started with this amazing dream and not letting it go, although sometimes it was hard. I met a lot of wonderful people, i want to believe that this project helped lots of designers to get more exposure and also, we offered giveaway products worth approximately of $600 to 7 lucky girls!
Our goal is to reach $1,000,000 worth of giveaways!
If you are a designer and want to be featured on our website, please visit the INSPIRE ME page and SIGN UP!
If you do not know already, INSPIRE ME is a project, which was created to promote talented people from all over the world and to inspire other people who have talent TO DO what they LOVE and stop wasting any other minute on doing what others want from them. It is a big project, but i am sure that together we can create a community where people are not afraid to be amazing and show what awesome things they can do.
Few words from Estilo Tendances side
We were introduced to Sofronescu Dan’s work through Daniel Ignat who was featured in this project two months ago. He told us about Dan, and the fact that he is a good designer and that this opportunity would suit him well. We looked at his designs, we started chatting and now, he is here! We love most of all, his coats, the mixture of different patterns and fabrics is beautiful, and his designs are suitable for classy but also for out of the norm kind of style!
But, let’s get to know him!

A few words about yourself

What is your dream and when did it started?
For starters i would like to talk about the “sSs” brand that i created and was given the chance to represent. You might wonder “What does sSs mean?”…
“S” is my name initial and “sSs” represents 3 generations of fashion designers from my family. This means that starting with my grandfather, then my father and now me, we have all managed to find our way in working with different patterns and textile fabrics or leather. I want to believe that i can continue their work and take it to another level, because i learned from their mistakes and i am lucky enough not to live in a communist environment and to be apart of the digital generation, where things are getting faster and easier.
Because my father was a strict kind of guy, i had to learn to saw since i was 12 years old because in his mind, it was mandatory for me to continue the family business. It was not easy, not because of the fact that i was young, but also because i had to work with leather only, and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that is very hard to work with. Since i already had known to saw, it was time for me to get more into design and creation. I needed to know how to draw and develop beautiful designs, for which i enrolled to Design school.
It didn’t take long until i started to develop as an artist and i started to notice that in my creations there was a strong romantic vibe followed by structural styles. After graduation, i started working on my own, and a new chapter of my life started. With the help from my mentor, Corina Chirila, i started to develop in a different niche of the fashion world, the construction and manipulation of patterns. This changed me completely and broaden my horizons. Also, the Milan design school is well represented by Corina Chirila, so i was lucky enough to learn valuable things.
It didn’t take long and i started working with “Atelier Mademoiselle” (powered by “Fashion Square”) and i took part in lots of projects and lots of collaborations with other designers. I am really happy and proud when i look at all the shootings that i took part in and i can state that “I did that thing!”

Tell us more about what you do?
Now, i work with “Atelier Mademoiselle” (powered by “Fashion Square”) where we design clothing for both casual and special occasion wear.
-
Why did you choose to follow your passion?
I hit plenty of walls until i managed to realize that this is what i want to do! It is not by chance that i became the third Sofronescu who followed this path in life, or who knows this path maybe had chosen me!

Is it important that people do only what they love?
I always guided my life on doing what i loved and i always listen to my heart and not my wallet. But, things changed a bit after i started working with “Atelier Mademoiselle”, when i learned that sometimes you need to compromise, because when you are a leader you have to think about every decision you make and not be selfish. You must value your team because they trust you! Because of this, i believe that doing only what you love is a fairy tale and it cannot be done in real life. It is hard sometimes to find the balance between me and the client, but most of the time things work great and after visualizing all the possible scenario i managed to find the perfect one that will bring joy to everyone.

When things so south, where do you find strength to move forward?
After a full work week, what most relaxes me is to meet old friends, watch a movie or play some basketball.
-
Where do you get inspired from?
Since everything is relative, inspiration does not skip the rule. I can get inspired from a movie character, or even a rooftop. It all depends on my mood, if i want to create something romantic or something to adapt the current trends. When i was working alone, i didn’t pay attention to trends, i always designed what i felt like, but nowadays i must compromise, because you cannot pay salaries with feelings. 🙂

Where can we find you if we want to buy your products?
You can find my creations in three different online spots, the “Atelier Mademoiselle” facebook page, my personal blog Sofronescu Dan, or Fashion Square.
