Want to wear pastels? Whenever you think of a spring trend, try this one. This trend always comes to my mind. I love pastel colors, but I love this trend because I can take all the baby-colors in the world and combine them to get that pastel look. Because what’s pastel all about? Baby pink, baby blue, yellow or green, all (or maybe just some) in one outfit. Yes, pastels are a spring trend every year and yes, you can easily learn how to wear them by taking a look at the runway.
Welcome to the world of pastel hues!
I also have some tips for those of you who like pastels, but are not quite sure they love pastels. You can start small:
- by using some shades of pastels on accessories: sun-glasses, earrings, bracelets or necklaces. You can wear these with some neutral clothing pieces.
The pastel palette always draws attention, so if you have some areas that need attention, it’s time to use some ice-cream shades on you. If you’re not into that feminine look, you can also use some dark shades or masculine touches to your pastels. They say lilac is the standout shade this spring, so there you go!
How to wear the pastel trend
I think we can all agree that the gentle shades and colors of spring are the best way to bring a little bit of sunshine in our wardrobes and a colorful touch to our outfits. Big names in the fashion industry have used, reused and reinvented the pastel look so it will always look fresh and have an authentic appeal to it.
You can indulge in some beautiful and soft colored long dresses, just ready to be worn this spring and summer. Some are sleeveless, some are shoulderless, some are long, some are short, some are sheer and some are not. You can wear just one pastel color or you can combine more than three shades, as you can see in the images below. You can find pastel prints and patterns. Looks like pastel gingham is a successful trend as some designers have embraced it. You can also mix the pastel palette with denim.
The point is: there is no lesson on how to wear the pastel colors. You just do. Inspiration can be found anywhere.

“This season there is a move toward the cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take center stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times. Remembrances of retro delights, folkloric and floral art, and the magical worlds of tropical landscapes restore a sense of well-being as we head into warmer months.” (Pantone)
