This Thursday, we have received an invitation to go to the Matalan Spring/Summer 2015 Press Day held in a beautiful location right by Embankment Pier at One Horse Guards. It presented its Womenswear, Menswear, Children and Interiors collections and their setting simply was great!
Before we say what beauties we have seen there, let me tell you a little bit about what Matalan is…
Before receiving the invitation, I have heard about it, but never shopped there. Since I am not British and this is a primarily British retailer, I did not know entirely what to expect when going to the press day. But I can assure you I absolutely adored it! I even took a #scarfie (which is a selfie with their alphabetical scarves, when I normally hate selfies 😀 ).

The brand was founded in 1985 by John Hargreaves in Preston and it now comprises over 200 stores and 5 million square feet. It is one of the leading clothing and homeware retailers which offers quality products at up to half of the equivalent high street price.
The things they sell are truly amazing and the prices are more than just great. This is officially my next shopping destination!
What I loved the most was their womenswear and accessories line. They looked really classy and good at super affordable prices and I loved that about it!
#1 Accessories
I guess each one of us truly has her go-to accessories whenever she goes out, right? For me, the most important accessories are my bag and my shoes. As I do not often wear much jewelry, it is my way of standing out in the crowd, and I have loved it when Thursday, I have stepped into a beautiful room filled with both shoes and bags. It was paradise! I really enjoyed the colors, from soft pastels to shiny totes and the fringed ones were simply the best. In terms of shoes, I absolutely adored the heels, (all of them) and as extremely tempted to try them on to see how they fit.

#2 Womenswear
The Spring/Summer 2015 collection is characterized by a delicate mood with a prominent pastel color palette throughout the trends. The ‘hero’ trends of this collection are ‘Romanticism‘, ‘Sport‘ and ‘70s Bohemian‘, which you could also see through the accessories and shoes lines.
The Romantic side of the clothes is all about soft shapes with a fragile and subtle structure, which have intricate detailing to contrast with the fragility expressed through the garments.
As the sports trends still dominate the catwalks, Matalan did not forget the sporty-chic in its SS15 collection, which includes effortless trends, characterized by simplicity and some striking monochrome color palettes.
Last but not least, the 70s Bohemian is revived through the SS15 part of the collection, with wide-legged trousers a must this season, it could not have been any different.
