The Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2015 ready to wear runway was beyond fabulous … but would we expect anything less? Designers who also debut a couture collection often neglect detail when it comes to the ready to wear runway because they need their couture lines to be like no other. Elie Saab is not one of these designers. Every inch of these ensembles are detailed, sewn, and embellished to perfection. Elie is world renown for his phenomenal evening wear and it just so happens his SS15 collection was one of the best we have ever seen from this designer.
I adore his close attention to multiple trends which are apparent in this collection. His use of colour, cut, technique and of course that classic Elie Saab shimmer fall anything but short of phenomenal.
We adore colour. We adore bold colour. Most of all we adore colour transgression. Ombre is beautiful but we never expected to see it on a ready to wear runway, or any runway for that matter. These stunning pieces incorporate to die for, statement making shades that would immediately make any fashionista fall in love. If you want people to talk, here is the key.
Plunging neckline and thigh high slit
One thing we would not expect from a designer who thrives on magnificent evening wear is exposure. Elie, a master of his art, is unafraid to experiment. He already excels in his ability to combine multiple trends all within one collection so to add an element of such significance is revolutionary. Plunging v necklines and thigh high slits are daring but inevitably sassy. This designer shows that his collection is not relegated to high society regulations; where prim and proper produce class and sophistication. Instead these are products of a dramatic collaboration between formality and experimentation. This is my favourite trend from his ready to wear collection, not many designers can work the plunge or the slit never mind together.

Dipped hem was a fleeting trend back in 2011 but everyone loved it. It is back … and better than ever. I find that dipped hems are so flattering and the perfect option for when you’re bored of long eveningwear and short is inappropriate. Most designers choose a fitted bodice with sheer material or a simplistic design, Elie Saab opts for anything but that. Many would expect the revival of this trend to be a gradual process to win over the industry. If a gradual process includes bold patterns, prints and a mass amount of colour, Elie is doing it right. It is inevitable that many designers will fail in reprising this once loved trend in comparison to this fashion house, they have a lot to compete with.
Elie Saab is iconic for its overlay of shimmer. No other designer can live up to the exquisite added glamour, yet understated sparkle. Whether wearing a jumpsuit, shorts, dress or wedding gown this element is present all the finest Elie creations making this collection, and many others even dreamier.
