Spring 2014 Ready-To-Wear: Fendi Women Collection

//Spring 2014 Ready-To-Wear: Fendi Women Collection

Fendi is a luxury Italian fashion house well known for its darling handbags and its creative director, the one and only Karl Lagerfeld. It was originally launched in 1925 by Edoardo and Adele Fendi as a fur and leather shop.

In 1933 Fendi launched its signature luggage set which led to the rise of its handbag collection. However it was in 1965 where the brand began to excel through its renovation, proposed by the Fendi sisters (the daughters of the Fendi dynasty) and the new arrival of Karl Lagerfeld and his desire to create a collection of fur coats. We know that Karl is a master in many aspects of the fashion industry and he has trigged the launch of Fendi into the worldwide fashion industry. The brand subsequently created eye wear, fragrances and watches that are iconic and quite simply, every girl’s (and man’s) dream.

Some Fendi

Fendi’s SS14 collection was one of my favorite to date. Karl’s ability to include so many varying trends in one catwalk is something that leaves us bewildered. Fendi incorporates sophistication, sassiness and the hottest trends and has become one the most renowned luxury fashion houses.

Trends HOT from the SS14 catwalk

Color Trance

Everyone knows color is EVERYTHING where the catwalk is concerned. We experienced something remarkable on this season’s catwalk as we indulged in a color transition. With the use of excessive layering Karl’s piece built up a color palette all within one ensemble. What struck me about this trend was the progression from dark to light rather than vice versa as expected. Although the color is dominating Karl style chose to experiment with cuts and shapes to create diversity throughout the collection.

Sheer

We have never been so excited over a trend and we have greatly anticipated its wait. The high street is full of sheer pieces but it was collections like Fendi that sparked our interest and pushed us to experiment. You can channel sheer in practically any form and combine it with other trends, colours and shapes. This catwalk is the epitome of experimentation and presents high fashion at it’s very finest.

Dynamic

This is by far my favorite of the trends seen in the SS14 collection. Mismatch patterns are my weakness and I have never seen this trend in such a chic format. Each piece is exquisite and the detail is intricate. Sometimes when a designer focuses too much on one trend they lack in other aspects of the ensemble, we should know by now Karl would be the exception. The cuts are divine and the accessories are to die for. My favourite is the panelled red coat and prismatic skirt, so gorgeous.

… through darling coats. We always find on the catwalk the most beautiful, tailored coats, however, are usually forbidden to viewing what lies underneath. Fendi has solved this issue and not only want to show their immaculate tailoring but the show-stopping ensembles that can be paired with such coats. This has been done through a concentration on the fastening and shape. The most fabulous part of this trend is the color contrast. Block colored coats are combined with mesmerizing pattern combinations which create the ultimate fashionista look.
