Product Review: Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil + Make Your Own Body Scrub

//Product Review: Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil + Make Your Own Body Scrub

Wouldn’t you love to make your own organic and healthy cosmetics and household products?

I totally would! And this summer i have started by making my own All Purpose Cleaner (which works great) made out of 1 tsp of Baking soda, 1 cup of vinegar,  1 cup of water and a few drops of essential oil (i started with Jasmine, but after some reading, now i use Grapefruit or Lemon – because it neutralize the vinegar smell) and using only Coconut Oil for moisturizing my skin.

But, since i have started experimenting with different ingredients, essential oils and all sort of oils (i actually add a few drops of pure organic Maroccan Argan oil to my shampoo, conditioner, hand soap etc) i studied a bit the Tea Tree Oil, which i now LOVE and i am going to start using it for everything (just wait for my next articles).

Anyways,  a few days ago i just received my bottle of Tea Tree Oil from Apothecary Extracts + an ebook with 53 uses for it (recipes), and i started reading a lot about it and what it does. For each purchase you will get your FREE ebook as well!

First of all, why Apothecary Extracts?

The brand was founded in 2013 because they wanted to serve the customer with only the purest oils on the market and they wanted to have the proof – the tests, that they have only 100% PURE OILS. You can find them only on Amazon.com.

What is Tea Tree Oil?

This oil is good for almost everything, starting with fighting Acne, Toenail Fungus, Lice, Yeast Infections, Skin Tags, Cold Sores, Dandruff, Ringworm, Fleas, Warts, Psoriasis, etc.

And if you are crazy about experimenting with ingredients (like i am), then you can use it to make your own Shampoo, Lotion, Soap, Face Cleaner, Body Wash, and Toothpaste, Household Cleaners, Detergents, Shower Sprays, Bathroom Disinfectants, and Kitchen Sprays – it’s crazy how many uses it has and one 118 ml bottle will last for a year (yes, you heard it right!).

So, as i said, i got this amazing bottle of Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil and was asked to review it. What better way to review it, if not starting to make my own body scrub recipe?! (i love body scrubs)

At first, i read the whole Ebook with the 53 uses for Tea tree Oil and then, based on my prior knowledge, i developed MY OWN BODY SCRUB RECIPE! (it’s so much fun when you are making your own recipes – it’s just like cooking!).

Make a Tea Tree Oil Body Scrub

The recipe that i developed has:

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 8 drops of Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil
  • 4 drops of Bergamot essential oil
  • about one table spoon of Organic Coconut Oil (just put as much as you need to turn it all in a paste)

Why these ingredients?

Brown sugar: it is more abrasive then white sugar and it is able to remove only dead skin cells and materials that clog your pores. Plus it combats aging, because of Vitamin B and it is a slight moisturizer.

Bergamot essential oil: it is a natural antibiotic and disinfectant and it is perfect for those battling acne or excessive sebum oil. Also it is antiseptic and it helps the skin regenerate and heal faster. (in the last week i noticed my skin had some problems and this oil was the perfect choice for me today)

Organic Coconut Oil: It smells divine! And it is a great moisturizer (i used it all summer after shower, on wet skin and it was better than any moisturizers i have ever used)! Prevents premature aging, dryness and flaking of the skin.

How to do it and use it?

You just mix all the ingredients in a (preferably) ceramic recipient and voila, you are done! It takes under 2 minutes and you can do it ‘fresh’ every week (i suggest scrubbing your body only once every 7 days, because this is how long it takes the skin to regenerate). Today, i used it on my hands and face, without water (but if you have a sensitive skin, i suggest wetting your face/body first and then use the scrub).

Massage your body/face for one minute, slowly (remember, it is your body and you don’t want to harm it), with circular motions, and then rinse with lukewarm water (never use hot or cold water for your face, neck or chest).

Result:

Smelling fresh and having the softest skin ever! You have to try it! It is cheap, easy to make and to use and the beauty of it? You can use other ingredients and make YOUR OWN RECIPE! You can use different base oils: olive oil, almond oil and different essential oilslavender is a good choice!
