Orange. Not coral. Not peach. Orange.

I know what your thinking, orange, right? The number one fashion faux pas when it comes to your go-to colour palette. Darlings, if you’re thinking that it’s time to add a little vibrancy into your life, why not try orange? Do you know how to wear orange?

Whilst wearing any shade of orange can strike even the most prolific of fashion enthusiasts as a little daunting, that is all about to change. Orange is back and it is ready to stay, or do I mean slay?

First, we must acknowledge why is there a taboo surrounding this glorious shade. Is it too experimental? Is it too bold? Will it make the wrong kind of statement?

We are in an era where the most outrageous of trends are in the midst of creation or frequently reappearing. In a world where the ‘in fashion’ has been to every extreme, we are more and more frequently seeing them reappear collectively not just one by one.

How To Wear Orange

Orange shouldn’t be daunting. Whether it’s the height of summer or the midst of winter, whether you’re blonde, brunette or anything in between, anyone can pull it off, you just have to know how to wear orange!

Now, it’s my turn to show you!

#1. Orange all over

We start with orange at it’s very finest. If you desire to be that darling who enters the party and all eyes on her, this is certainly for you. If you look so good in a colour, embrace it in it’s truest form.

There is nothing like making a bold statement by wearing head to toe orange (side note: excluding accessories, that is!). Dare to experiment and dare yourself to go that extra mile.

If you are an orange lover like me, you will welcome this with open arms, and if not? Be a risk taker, it will certainly pay off after you learn how to wear orange.

#2. Orange on your feet

There is no denying that orange footwear is all around us. How to wear orange on your feet? Just last week I saw a pair of gorgeous orange mules (yes, mules!) in Zara that was sold out in my size. Of course, I had instantly fallen in love.

Like with any ensemble, a pair of shoes can change an entire look. Whether you choose a pair of strappy barely-there sandals or go with an iconic pointed court, the appeal will never dwindle in this incredible colour.

Ivanka Trump Carra Pump

“A square stiletto heel lends a modern, angular touch to a pointy-toe pump. A cushioned footbed keeps you comfortable all day and all night.”

#3. Colour clash

This is by far my favourite way to wear this gorgeous colour because if you are going to make a statement, why not go all out there?

These amazing Emilio Pucci trousers would look gorgeous with a white/cream blouse, but they would look ultimately gorgeous with a fuchsia one. Remember, colour clashing was made for rule breaking!

Emilio Pucci Pleated Stretch Wool Trousers

“A daringly vivid hue emboldens stretch-wool pants cut in a relaxed, straight-leg silhouette tailored with crisp creases and tucked pleats.”

#4. Burnt out orange

Still wondering how to wear orange? Okay, so I have taken things a little dramatic, to begin with, but forgive a girl for trying! My obsession with this colour is parallel to the endless array of styles found in our favourite high street stores at the moment.

Whilst I have placed a focus on a classic staple orange we can never forget that divine burnt out shade. This shade provokes curiosity. Everyone will query the colour you’re wearing, what you’re wearing and where you can get such a piece from.

Pieces like these exquisite Tibi wide legs pants are amazing for summer and also fall!

Tibi ‘Owen’ Twill Crop Wide Leg Pants

“Double front pleats add fluid movement to the wide-leg cut of cropped pants tailored from wool-enriched twill for softly weighted structure. Oversized flap pockets at the sides bring a utility vibe to the look.”

#5. Understated orange

Maybe you just need a little pop of colour but nothing too over the top or exaggerated, right? Something as simple as an orange tank top can turn heads, yet look equally as show-stopping when paired with classic black and white.

Don’t let your surroundings or situation stop you experimenting! By now, you definitely know how to wear orange.

Diane Von Furstenberg ‘Sky’ Silk Tank

“Pleated shoulders add a touch of texture to a smooth silk tank refreshed by an invigorating citrus hue.”

#6. Statement piece

The colour itself makes a statement but pair that with an iconic wardrobe staple and, darling, you have created a masterpiece. It is time likes these where you desire to pair your orange skirt with a classic white top to ensure it’s colour stands out a mile.

Look around darling, everyone is staring in admiration because you are killing it!

“Sturdy cotton canvas in a bright orange hue matches your sunny disposition in a retro-inspired A-line mini skirt styled with two oversized patch pockets and belt loops.”
