Home/Beauty/Get Messy: 5 Buns To Try Right Away

We’ve been looking for the most versatile solution when it comes to hair. The result is probably no surprise to anyone: buns are the perfect solution either we’re having a bad hair day, going to the gym or to a cocktail party.

What matter next is that we know how to suit them and of course, how to style them.  We can also add “in little to no time” if possible. Therefore, we’ve made a list of the most both popular and spectacular buns we’ve seen.

Which are the best messy buns? Let’s take a closer look!

#1 TOP KNOT MESSY BUN

Perfect for days when you’re hair isn’t in its best form, or if you’re just on the run for a party. For this one you have to keep close a bottle of dry shampoo  – no. 1 ingredient without which the bun will most likely slip – and a comb.

So first: add some dry shampoo. Then, create a high ponytail and pull it as loose as you can without it falling on one side. Take out some light tiny hairs around your face and then start back-combing the hair. Do that until it gets enough texture and almost doubles its size.

Now, it’s time to loop your pony around your hand and create a real knot near the base of the ponytail. Last thing to do: pull the knot into a messy shape that you like. And don’t forget the width of the bun: high is not  necessarily what you’re looking for. To make it more secure, you can add now a bit of hairspray.

#2 LOW MESSY BUN

On the other hand, we have the low bun. Perfect for a busy day at the office or just a casual day, it’s easy to do and very comfortable.

To make it look really good, we’re gonna put to use the weapons that we have for the top knot. That means we’ll start with adding some dry shampoo to create some texture and make it look totally clean and healthy. Next, we have to pick some strands of hear from underneath and backcomb them in order to pump up the volume of the hair.

Afterwards, pull all your hair in a low pony, covering the already backcombed hair with strands from the top of the head. All you have left to do is to either twist your pony, or backcomb it and then twist depending on its length. And voila, perfect low bun!

#3 EASY BRAID MESSY BUN

For this one, you can go with either a high or low bun. What’s more important here is to decide first if you want a classy hairstyle or something more casual. For the first one keep your hair straight and silky. For the second one, go with the steps learned above.  After this decision is made, tie you hair in a ponytail.

All there is to be done next is to braid your pony and twist it in the perfect bun. Use a loose braid, with strands of hair left out for a casual look, and a tight glossy braid for a more polished look.

#4 THE MESSY DOUGHNUT

Since we have this awesome instrument for buns, why not use it? Make a high ponytail and pass it through the hair doughnut. Let the hair cover it and then tie it at the base with an elastic. You can now take the strands of hair and put them into a braid or a twist. At the end, put them around the bun and watch it transform from a simple one into one that’s very stylish.

#5  MESSY FRENCH TWIST

For this both modern and classy hairstyle, you have to bet on the texture, since that’s the most important aspect. Add either some dry shampoo, or some sea salt spray and let it dry. Pull all your hair on one side and secure it in the back with some bobby pins.  Roll all your hair in the opposite direction and then secure it with more bobby pins in the back.

These are just five of the most beautiful buns you can create. But of course, you can always make your own modification in order to make it look better on your face shape. Other small additions that you can bring are inserting some small braids before pulling your hair in a pony, or working with lighter hair strands.
